Burrington Combe
Fine example of a typical Mendip gorge for walking, caving and climbing
Burrington Combe is a Carboniferous Limestone gorge near the village of Burrington on the north side of the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in North Somerset England. Combe or Coombe is a word of Celtic origin found in several forms on all of the British Isles denoting a steep sided valley or hollow. Burrington Combe is a gorge though the limestone hills although there is now no river running through it. Various cave entrances are exposed which have been occupied by humans for over 1000 years with a hillfort being built beside the combe in the Iron Age. The geology has led to a diversity of plant life. According to legend Augustus Montague Toplady was inspired to write the hymn Rock of Ages while sheltering under a rock in the combe although recent scholars have disputed this claim.

Theatre in the Hut
Anamateur dramatics society in Weston super Mare in Somerset, which has been running for over 60 years.
We are an amateur dramatics society with members from many different backgrounds. We put on several shows every year, mainly at the Theatre in the Hut which is owned by the Wayfarers. Members do not get paid for the shows we put on, as all proceeds from ticket sales (after payment of royalties and licenses etc) go towards the upkeep and improvement of the theatre. What we do get is a tremendous amount of satisfaction and a great social life.

Weston Water Adventure Play Park
An amazing water and play park that the kids will love. The ideal place to relax whilst the children have fun in the fountains, sprays and the splash pad.
The splash pad offers a range of fountains and sprays which are triggered by movement sensors and buttons. The port beacon, the tallest piece of equipment on the splash pad, emits a rain shower effect while others create tunnels and arches.
The wooden Stockholm Castle is just asking to be played on, as are the double cable way and the toddler area where little ones can get the musical on the xylophone or crawl through the tunnel.
The water park also contains a sand pit, a climbing pyramid and snake swing.
The park is open all year round, with the splash pad running from April to September (weather dependent).
The Water Adventure Play Park is located on Knightstone Road which is the sea front road next to Melrose Car Park.

Tyntesfield Estate
Spectacular Victorian country house, gardens and arboretum managed by the National Trust
Tyntesfield, just a stones throw away from Bristol, was not built as a bold and extravagant statement of wealth, power or politics. Its purpose was simple; to serve as a family home. Once hidden and inaccessible, the ordinary and extraordinary lives and possessions of four generations of the Gibbs family are ready for discovery.
The garden and estate balance faded beauty and function with an abundance of nature; celebrated in ornate Gothic carvings that decorate the house. Flower filled terraces, an empty lake, woodland, champion trees and productive kitchen garden give further opportunities for exploration.
There is also a cafe and shop on site

The Strawberry Line
Walk and cycle traffic free all the way from Yatton to Cheddar on the fabulous Strawberry line
The Cheddar Valley Line, which ran from Yatton railway station through to Cheddar and Wells, became known as the Strawberry Line because of the volume of locally grown strawberries that it carried to London markets. The Strawberry Line survived until the Beeching Axe closed it in 1963.
The Strawberry line is a popular walking and cycling route, as well as nature reserve.
The journey officially starts at the Strawberry Line cafe at Yatton, but can be joined at many different places, including Congresbury, Sandford (by Thatchers Cider and station) and Winscombe

The Mick Aston Uphill walk
Explore the ancient archaeological sites in Uphill on a walk devised by late Mick Aston of TVs Time Team.
Stunning views of the Bristol Channel, the Mendips and the Somerset Levels, open grassland of the Mendip limestone upland, the rhynes (ditches) and wetlands of the Levels, the tidal mud of the creek with its changing water levels, and the boats at Uphill boatyard.
Very steep climb, difficult wheelchair access through gate to the churchyard and along an overgrown grass path.

Steep Holm
Steep Holm is an island nature reserve in the Bristol Channel with a fascinating history. Steep Hold lies about five miles (8 km) offshore from the seaside resort of Weston super Mare
Steep Holm can be accessed by scheduled boat trips and is valued for being a unique nature reserve and a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The island is famed for its beautiful wild peony that flowers in May.
Steep Holm is also home to the remains of several buildings including a 12th century Augustinian priory and Victorian fortifications. The former Barracks have been restored as a Visitor and Education/Exhibition Centre. There is a small cafe that is open seasonally.
The six gun batteries and cannons are largely intact, and later Second World War additions including searchlight posts, gun batteries and rocket launcher sites can also be seen

St Michaels closed in 1995 but due to its architectural interest was adopted by the Churches Trust and occasional services are held throughout the year.
The 12th century tympanum is the oldest visible part of the church to have survived, however the majority of the building is from the 13th century.
